KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating the shooting of one person early Monday morning.

Police were dispatched to Restaurant Depot near 12th and Liberty just after 4:15 a.m.

Police said one male employee was shot near the front door of the business.

According to police, they were not sure if the shooting was a result of a robbery or a personal issue.

“We’re not sure if anyone went inside the store regarding the suspect, but what we do know is the employee was shot right at the front of the store,” police captain Charles Huth said.

Police said they think the employee and a manager were the only ones working at the time of the shooting but have not been able to confirm that detail.

The victim was transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries. Police said the victim is listed in critical condition.

Police have not released the name of the victim because his family has not yet been notified.

Police have not yet released a suspect description.

“We are reluctant to give a partial description, were it to be wrong,” captain Huth said. “We want to make sure we give a good description before we release that information.”
