LENEXA, Kan. — A 41-year-old woman was arrested over the weekend and faces a child endangerment charge in Johnson County because police say she was driving under the influence with a child in the car.

Late Saturday night, a police officer was at a Lenexa HyVee on another matter when a citizen told the officer that the woman appeared drunk.

The officer followed Sherri Berray and observed several traffic violations. When he stopped her on suspicion of drunk driving, he discovered a 21-month-old child in the car.

The officer said Berray had been alone in the store and determined that the child had been left inside the car while Berray went inside.

Berray was arrested and then charged Monday morning with child endangerment, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to records, this is the second time Berray has been charged with DUI. She was scheduled in court Monday afternoon at 1:30. Her bond was set at $10,000.
