Early-morning Prairie Village traffic stop leads to gunfire, arrest

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — A suspect is in custody following a chase that weaved across the state line early Sunday morning.

According to authorities, a Prairie Village police officer responding to a suspicious vehicle and burglary alarm call pulled over a vehicle around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday in the 7400 block of Belinder Avenue. Police say that the vehicle then struck the officer, leading his backup to open fire on the vehicle as it sped away.

The pursuit then continued into Kansas City, Missouri, before returning to Prairie Village. The vehicle was finally stopped and a suspect was taken into custody in the 7200 block of Belinder near Belinder Elementary School.

The suspect has not been identified. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
