Independence teenager with autism reunited with family following search

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — An 18-year-old with autism who was missing on Wednesday night was found in good condition according to Independence police. Montell Johnson was reunited with his family at a metro QuikTrip  at about 12:45 a.m. on Thursday after a clerk called police, and responding officers confirmed the missing teenager was at the convenience store.

Johnson had last been seen at about 6:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Burning Tree Street, prompting a search. Police thanked the public for getting the word out on social media and assisting with his safe return.
