KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The ramp from eastbound Interstate 70 to southbound Interstate 35 will be closed longer than expected.

The repair project was only expected to take two to three weeks, but officials determined the deteriorated section of the ramp bridge needs to be replaced. The ramp was originally expected to reopen June 1.

MoDOT said the project will involve adding a 7,500 pounds of steel and more than 1,400 new bolts.  The ramp was built in 1967 and is normally used by 45,000 vehicles a day.

A time table has not been set for completion of the project.
