Drivers find themselves trapped & trees fall during Fri. afternoon thunderstorm

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Emergency crews were called out to help rescue the person or people inside a vehicle trapped in high water Friday afternoon at 110th and Sycamore Terrace in South Kansas City.

Chelsea Young,22,  of Grandview says she and her husband were trying to turn around near Sycamore & 113th Streets, when their Jeep Cherokee suddenly got stuck in the flooded street during the heavy rainstorm at about 1:00 p.m. Firefighters arrived and helped rescue the couple out of their car.  The couple wasn’t hurt.

Another high water rescue was underway at North Beaumont Blvd and North Chouteau Trafficway, a familiar spot for high water.

Another FOX 4 viewer provided pictures of a tree that uprooted and fell on her home. The tree also destroyed her grandchild’s playhouse in the backyard of the home near N.E. 49th and Ewing.
