KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Latonya Morris says all she wants to do is to visit her mother’s grave, but it’s proving to be a lot harder than it sounds.

In order to visit her mom, Morris must first find where she was buried.

She along with her fiancé Billy and four kids have spent their time cutting through weeds and digging through grass to find the grave site.

“It's a desolate wasteland,” Morris says.

A worker at Lincoln Cemetery told FOX 4 that crews are working to raise the graves. He also says he has been working everyday to maintain the area. The worker shared with FOX 4 that he recently found the grave Morris has been looking for and marked it for her to find.

Fox 4 contacted the Lincoln Cemetery Association and left messages but so far no response.

The great jazz musician Charlie Parker and other heroes are among those who were buried at Lincoln Cemetery.

"The loved ones are gone, they're no longer here on earth but we're still here to mourn,” says Morris.
