Rescue crews save cat dangling above rushing river

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A cat who is now named Scuba Steve was rescued by Great Plains SPCA  and Jackson County Fire Department Tuesday.

Witnesses called for help when they saw someone throw a cat from a truck into Little Blue River.

Rescue crews said Scuba Steve was hanging on to a tree branch barely above the water when they found the cat. Great Plains SPCA said the cat was unreachable and called the Jackson County Fire Department for help.

Team members donned wet suits and waded into the water to get the cat. The cat was award the name Scuba Steve following his rescue.

Great Plains SPCA said Scuba Steve will soon be up for adoption.
