Crystal Lake dam did not break but water pours over into spillway

CRYSTAL LAKE, Mo. — Powerful flood waters are raging at Crystal Lake at Excelsior Springs, and although it looks like the dam broke, the mayor says it did not. Instead, the water is going over into a spillway, as it’s meant to.

However, that doesn’t mean that the area is free of high, gushing water.  As KKES-FM radio reports on its Facebook page, the roadway is completely washed out.

The excess water is draining from the lake that is at capacity. Obviously, more rain will not help the situation.
