TBILISI  — Police have shot and killed a white tiger that killed one man and injured another Wednesday in Tbilisi, Georgia, a Ministry of Internal Affairs representative said.

The animal had been unaccounted for after severe flooding over the weekend destroyed the city zoo, allowing hundreds of wild animals to escape.

The attack happened at a warehouse in the city center. There are no details yet on the condition of the second man.

At least 19 people died in the flooding, said Civil Georgia, a news website run by the nongovernmental organization United Nations Association of Georgia. Six more remained missing as of Tuesday evening, it said.
