Missing 16-year-old Versailles girl found safe

VERSAILLES, Mo. — Police in Versailles said a missing 16-year-old girl has been located safe.

Police said that Kiaira Lazae Burris was last seen at leaving a McDonald’s near the 100th block of Fairgrounds Road around 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Versailles with an unknown person.¬†Versailles is located approximately 125 miles southeast of Kansas City.

Police are looking for a gray Chevrolet Malibu bearing unknown registration, with tinted windows and front end damage. That vehicle was last seen on Tuesday around 7:00 p.m. in Columbia, Missouri.

Burris’ mother told police that she received a call from her daughter around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday from an unknown number. Her mother said Burris was crying when she called.¬†Burris’ mother added that at one point a male began got on the line and repeated the phrase “I hid the body” before hanging up the phone.

Burris is described as a black female, 5’7″ tall and 175 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo of a rose outline on her left arm.

Police said Burris was last seen wearing a brown and tan sleeveless sundress, black sandals with pearls and carrying a black backpack containing clothes.
