KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Loved ones gathered to remember a Kansas City man, who was shot while holding a one-year old child in his arms.
The family is remembered the life of Devin Flemons during a vigil on Monday, and also pleaded for anyone with information on the shooting to come forward.
The family of Flemons wants to know who fired the shot that took his life while he was holding a toddler. It happened one week ago at a home at 34th and Indiana.
Family says he had just gotten off work, stopped by for a visit, and was playing with his cousin's baby at the time. At the vigil, Devin's father Donell Brown had this message for the shooter:
“Come to Jesus and justice man. We`re praying for you as well,” said Brown. He's also asking others who may know something to come forward.
“Say something. It`s not snitching. Being the circumstance of the situation it`s not snitching it`s caring,” said Brown.
“It could be your child next you know what I mean? I wouldn`t want any other parents to endure the pain that me and my family are going through right now,” continued Brown.
Loved ones released balloons, and some shared memories of Devin, some fighting back tears.
As they look ahead to laying Devin to rest, Donnell Brown wants them all to keep memories of Devin in their hearts.
“Just remember Devin as that guy you all know him to be. That outgoing, that light up any room. Devin would light up the room.” He said.
If you have any information in this shooting, you’re urged to call Kansas City police or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
