Salvation Army to donate more than 1,000 box fans to help those needing relief from the heat

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Starting Monday July 27th, the Salvation Army of Kansas and Western Missouri is giving away more than 1,000 new box fans to people in need in the metro.

Recently Westlake Ace Hardware  stores across the metro hosted a fan drive to benefit the Salvation Army. Kansas City area customers donated enough that the organization was able to buy the more than 1,000 new fans.

Fans will be distributed by The Salvation Army throughout the summer to individuals in need.

The organization said priority for fan assistance will be given to those who are elderly, seriously ill, or physically disabled. They will also be distributed to households with children under the age of ten years, expectant mothers and those with income at or below 150 percent of poverty level.
