Stolen vehicle pursuit involves multiple agencies in Kansas

Vehicle pursuit across cities in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Suspects accused of stealing a SUV, were involved in a pursuit which spanned across several cities in the state of Kansas.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday the Kansas Highway Patrol dispatch was requested to help assist the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department with stopping an aggravated burglary suspect in a stolen vehicle, which was reported by Shawnee Police Department. A trooper initiated a traffic stop near Kansas Avenue and 57th Street in Kansas City, Kansas and a pursuit ensued until the trooper lost sight of the suspect vehicle near K-7 Hwy and State Avenue.

The pursuit was picked up again by Tonganoxie Police Department and continued into Lawrence, Kansas. The Lawrence Police Department deployed stop sticks on the south end of 6th Street and Vermont. After the vehicle became disabled, three subjects were taken into police custody.

Kansas Highway Patrol assisted Shawnee Police Department with transporting the subjects to their police department, and a tow serviced took the stolen 4-Runner back to their department as well.

Shawnee Police Department is the primary investigating agency in this incident, however there were multiple agencies involved.
