29-year-old man charged with carjacking, kidnapping and rape in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A 29-year-old man Kansas City, Missouri man is behind bars Tuesday accused of carjacking, kidnapping and raping a 24-year-old woman.

Kansas City, Missouri Police say the crime began around 11:30 Monday night at the Chouteau Crossing Shopping Center in the Northland.  Investigators say Scott Hamm approached a man and woman talking in the parking lot at gunpoint. Police say Hamm robbed the couple and forced the woman into her car and ordered her to drive away.

Police say the woman’s car was found a short time later and a few blocks away parked in a lot on Parvin and Chouteau Trafficway. Officers say when they spotted the car Hamm got out and the woman told investigators she was raped.

Hamm is charged with carjacking, kidnapping and rape.
