KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man was arrested late Monday after a woman says he kidnapped her from the parking lot of a Northland shopping center.

Police say a man and a woman were sitting in their car in a parking lot right off of I-35 along Chouteau Trafficway around 11:15 p.m. and were talking when a man came up to them with gun.

According to police, the suspect robbed the man and forced him out of the car before speeding off with the woman still inside.

About an hour later, police found the suspect and the female victim in the car parked outside a Kindercare daycare off Chouteau and NE Parvin Road, which is only about a mile and a half from the parking lot where the alleged kidnapping and carjacking happened.

Police arrested the suspect for carjacking and kidnapping.

Police did not say if there were any injuries to the man or woman who were victims in the incident.

It was unclear if the suspect and the victims knew each other or if this was a random incident.
