KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man is still recovering in the hospital after a truck hit his motorcycle and then took off. Police say the driver drove away and left the man for dead. The accident happened late last month in North Kansas City.

Police are still looking for the driver who slammed into Daren Stewart and then drove off. Stewart is currently in the hospital with a broken arm and leg.

Stewart was on his way home on his motorcycle when a vehicle slammed into him. His girlfriend, Stephanie Briggs, got the call in the early morning about the accident. She says another man stayed with Stewart while more help arrived.

Briggs says her boyfriend has undergone three surgeries to try and keep his leg.

She says she's angry at the driver who took off.

"He probably thought he killed him and kept on driving. But I don't know how you live with yourself knowing you injured someone that badly," Briggs said.
