KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex in Kansas City, Missouri, which left one man dead.

Police said shortly before 3 p.m. they were called to a shooting at the Cloverleaf Apartments located off South 71 Highway. Initially police said two men were shot at that location, but later said someone shot a man as he sat inside a small red car in the complex's parking lot. Investigators said after the shooting the gunman fled the scene.

Shortly after 4 p.m. police located the body of the victim inside of the red car near 150 and 71 Highway, which is near the True Value Supply Warehouse about a mile form the initial shooting scene.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Cordell Bell of Kansas City, Missouri.

Police said Wednesday they were still working to figure out exactly what happened at the scene, and say they are not sure if Bell drove himself to the business location, or is someone else drove him there and then fled.

Officers canvassed the area and located a male subject running in the area, not far from where the victim was located inside the car. It is unknown if that person is a suspect at this time.

So far there has been no word on arrests in this case.
