KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- As kids get ready to go back to school, parents can take advantage of Missouri's tax-free weekend which begins Fri. August 7 and runs through Sun. August 9.

The deal includes any article of clothing under $100, school supplies less than $50, computer software up to $350 and computers and tablets up to $3,500 dollars. It also includes computer accessories.

Missouri is one of 16 states that take part in this tax-free holiday. Kansas does not.

The tax-free weekend started back in 1997 in New York and has grown since then as a way to help families save money.
