Lee’s Summit Bomb Squad called to remove suspicious device from truck after accident

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. —  Lee’s Summit Bomb Squad is investigating after a suspicious device was found in the bed of a pickup truck that was involved in an accident Thursday morning.

Police say that around 10:24 a.m. a pickup truck was heading west on SW 3rd Street near SW Blue Parkway when it hit a van heading east. The van then hit a pole on the north side of SW 3rd Street.

According to police, both drivers were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Police described the device as looking like a grenade. The bomb squad was able to dispose of the device without any issues.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
