OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The newest set of ramp meters were up and running in Overland Park, Kansas on Thursday morning.

The ramp meters are located near 135th and U.S. 69 Highway. The ramp meters, which look like traffic lights, are automatically activated once the traffic builds up.

KC Scout was on-hand to watch how driver reacted during rush hour traffic Thursday.

The meters are the eighth set of ramp meters in the metro. The total includes the ones at I-435 and Metcalf, Nall and Roe Avenue, and Wornall and Holmes.

Ramp meters have proven to be effective. For example they helped decrease traffic on the freeway by 64 percent and help promote safe driving.
