PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. -- Prairie Village police confirm that a water main broke near Corinth Elementary school early Thursday morning.

Water One crews were on the scene of the break, which is near 83rd and Mission Road to make repairs. The break did not appear to cause any traffic issues.

Water crews say students at the school should not be affected because even though the school only has partial water, the students have a half-day and there is plenty of bottled water for kids to drink if water levels become low.

The break did affect a few businesses across the street from the school. Panera will remain closed until the water can be restored. Employees say they were in the middle of brewing coffee when the water was shut off. Employees decided to give out the coffee they had already made for free to customers who were sitting on the patio. Village Pediatrics LLC. also had their water supply shut off. Anyone with an appointment is encourage to call ahead.

Repairs took nearly five hours. As of noon Thursday all water service had been restored.
