Shots fired after victim confronts burglary suspect inside home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police officers are investigating after shots were fired inside of a home during an attempted burglary on Friday morning.

Police say the incident happened just before 9 a.m. in the 4600 block of E. 7th.

When officers arrived, they determined that the suspect was attempting the burglarize a home when they were interrupted by the victim.

According to police, the victim was armed and a struggle erupted between the victim and the suspect for possession of the weapon. During the struggle shots were fired inside of the home.

Police say that no one was shot and the suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting.
