OLATHE, Kan. -- The jury is in place, and Monday the opening statements begin in the trial of Frazier Cross.
Opening statements are expected to start at 9 a.m.
Frazier Cross is charged with capital murder in the shooting deaths of three people last year. William Corporon and his grandson, Reat Underwood, died outside the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park. Terri LaManno died in a shooting outside the Village Shalom retirement home.
Eight women and nine men have been chosen to sit on the jury. There will be 12 jurors and five alternates. They won't know who the alternates are until deliberations begin. 200 people were question by both sides before the final 17 were chosen last week.
The Johnson County District Attorney will ask for the death penalty if jurors find Cross guilty of capital murder. Cross is representing himself in court.
