Man in memorable hat robs bank in Overland Park, flees police in stolen pickup

Suspect from robbery at Valley View Bank, located at 8100 W 151st Street.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Police responded to an armed robbery at Valley View Bank, 8100 W 151st Street, Thursday afternoon at about 4:45.

Bank employees told officers a man displayed a handgun and demanded money from the teller. The teller complied and the suspect left the bank.  No one was injured during the robbery.

As officers were arriving the suspect was seen fleeing the area in a pickup truck. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however the vehicle failed to stop for officers. Officers pursued the truck until officers lost sight of it near West 135th Street / US 69 Highway.

The suspect is a white male, around 50-60 years old, 5’09 – 6’00 tall, and average build. He was wearing a cowboy style straw hat and dark coat during the robbery.

The suspect was last seen driving a newer silver Ford F-150 type pickup truck with Arkansas tags. The tag on the truck returned as a stolen tag. The tag also showed an association to a previous robbery in Arkansas.
