Police respond to reports of a disturbance in south KC neighborhood

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police were called to a neighborhood in south Kansas City Thursday night after a someone reported seeing a man with a gun.

Police say the incident occurred near Blue Ridge Blvd. and Richmond Ave. just before 9 a.m.

FOX 4's Katie Banks reports that when she arrived on the scene police had their guns drawn and were telling a man to put his hands up. The man had been ordered out of a home nearby.

When the man surrendered police handcuffed him and questioned him.

Officers say his family called police when a disagreement escalated and they believed he had a gun, but police never located a gun.

Police say no one was hurt in the incident and they did not believe the man was a threat and released him.
