CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A woman is thanking her newborn baby for saving her life.

Shelly Cawley had to be knocked out for an emergency C-section. The procedure went well, and baby Rylan was fine. But Cawley wasn't waking up.

A nurse had an idea though, to see if maybe Cawley's subconscious would respond to her daughter's cries.

So they put little Rylan on Cawley's chest. Baby Rylan at first just fell asleep on her mother's chest. Doctors and nurses had to tickle her and even pinch her just a little to get her to start crying.

Once the baby started crying and Cawley's vitals suddenly spiked.

She eventually came out of the coma, and doctors credit her newborn baby for waking her

“My life; that I'm still here because of her, and I just can't wait to tell her that. I can't wait to tell her that she saved my life,” said Cawley.
