KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Get ready for more slowdowns on I-29 in the Northland. Construction crews will be closing another lane on I-29 near Davidson.
Construction on I-29 in the Northland seems to be never-ending. It began back in April and has been going on non-stop since then. The latest lane closure will happen at 9 a.m. Crews will close one lane of southbound I-29 over Davidson Road.
Since the closure is right by the I-29/I-35 split, it could cause major slowdowns during the rush hour for those Northland residents who drive over the Bond Bridge into downtown Kansas City.
For the past five months, crews have been fixing up more than a dozen bridges and overpasses on I-29 from the I-29/ I-35 split all the way north past KCI.
It’s an $11 million project to fix an aging bridge system in the Northland and ensure that drivers stay safe when driving over them.
Drivers can expect I-29 at Davidson to be down to one lane for the next three weeks. Crews say they hope to wrap up all the bridge work on I-29 in the Northland sometime in October.
