KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Crews on Tuesday began the process of moving a dismantled old two-lane bridge that drivers once used to cross Route 40 at the Blue River, to its new location in Grandview.

In October 2014, the Missouri Department of Transportation dismantled the bridge to make way for a new one.  The 81-year-old bridge did not end up in the junk pile, though.  In a partnership with Grandview, the bridge is being restored as a pedestrian and bike bridge at the Tails and Trails Dog Park east of Byars Road, north of 139th Street.
