New Smithville homeowners call for experts when they find left behind shell casings

SMITHVILLE, Mo. — Clay County Sheriff’s Department was called to a home at Paradise Road and Lake Road Tuesday afternoon after the new homeowners discovered large caliber shell casings in a shed on their property.

The call came to them at about 11:55 a.m. Authorities had not evacuated anyone but people in the area were curious about the activity and Explosion Detection-K-9 unit van and fire trucks.
