Two men charged with first-degree robbery in connection to alleged carjacking

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two men were charged on Tuesday in connection to an armed carjacking.

Giovannai Medina and Jessy Xolot have both been charged with one count of first-degree robbery in connection to the alleged carjacking.

According to police the incident began near 9th Street and Van Brunt around 7 p.m. on Sunday and ended near 31st Street and Mersington.

Police say they were initially called on reports of an armed robbery. According to police, a woman was sitting in the front passenger’s seat of a¬†vehicle, which was unlocked when the first suspect opened the driver’s door and got in the vehicle, The other suspect then opened the passenger’s door and forced the woman out at gunpoint.

The suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, police say. It wasn’t long after that the suspect were involved in a two car-collision near 27th Street and Cleveland and fled on foot.

Officer’s were able to track down the two and make an arrest.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Xolot and Medina are both being held with bond set at $150,000.
