KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police are investigating after a railroad worker was hit and killed by a train Tuesday in KCK. Police say the incident happened near 24th and Bayard around 11:30 a.m. When police got on the scene, they found the man in the middle of train track.

Investigators say they think the man either got caught or tripped and fell.

“It appears he was working on the yard and somehow must’ve lost track and got struck by another train, moving,” said Officer Patrick McCallop with KCK Police.

Union Pacific and OSHA are both investigating the incident.

On Saturday family identified the victim as 49-year-old Troy J. Jordan of Shawnee, Kan.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with his family's expenses. CLICK HERE if you would like to donate.
