ST. JOE, Mo. -- Charges were filed against a 12-year-old girl on Tuesday for what prosecutors say she did in a video that was posted to Facebook and left parents outraged.

The 12-year-old was charged with assault on school property, which is a class D felony, for her connection to the case.

In the video that was posted to Facebook by user Dana Martin on Friday,  a young girl can be seen pulling another girl by her hair, hitting her and trying to force her to fight on a school playground at Hosea Elementary School.

According to the St. Joe News-Press, the school district issued a statement saying the student had been arrested for assault.  The statement goes on to say the St. Joseph School District does not condone this type of behavior, no matter when it occurs.

The 12-year-old is due in court on Friday at 1:45 p.m.
