PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — A metro church is keeping up its tradition; rather than putting up scripture or service times on its outdoor sign, it’s preaching the Royals!

Every Monday, church leaders at Asbury United Methodist Church, 5400 W 75th St., say they meet to decide what they want to put on the sign. They say this week, they decided not to change it because it seems to be working in the Royals’ favor.

As you can see in the picture, the sign reads “The New Wise Men Perez, Ventura, Zobrist”.

“We chose those three, because Perez is a staff favorite here,  we love him, and his energy for Kansas City is just amazing, Ventura was the lead off pitcher last night, so we just wanted to give him a little extra support, and then Zobrist, he`s been really great about having Kansas City as his new home, and we wanted to give him that support back,” said Eva Hedtke, Asbury United Methodist Church, when we spoke to her about the sign earlier this week.

Update: After the Royals won the American League Division Series, the church changed the sign to poke at our opponents, the Toronto Blue Jays.
