Police investigate reports of shooting at St. Joe Motel 6

ST. JOE, Mo. — Police in St. Joe, Mo., are investigating reports of a shooting at a motel Wednesday, according to KQ 2.

KQ 2 reports that officers were dispatched to the Motel 6 in the 4000 block of Frederick Avenue just after 8:30 a.m.

According to KQ 2, police have not confirmed if a victim has been shot, but there was an ambulance on the scene.

Capt. Jeff Wilson told KQ 2 that officers are negotiating with a barricaded individual. Officers from the St. Joseph Police Department, Missouri Highway Patrol and other agencies have been dispatched to the area as added precaution.

KQ 2 says officers have not released any information about the individual or how the incident started.

The St. Joseph Post is reporting that businesses near I-29 are on lockdown, including their station. The Post adds that shelters have been set up and I-29 traffic is being diverted.

Colgan Alternative Resource Center is also on lockdown, according to KQ 2. Guest at the Drury Inn were also asked to stay indoors.
