KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- If you see women flaunting their new designer purses, it may be that they are proud for another reason, too.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, The FOX 4 Love Fund for Children held its highly anticipated annual fundraiser called "It's in the Bag.'

Throughout the year, donors give new and gently used designer handbags to the Love Fund so they can auction them on the Saturday afternoon in the fall.

This year, the event was held at the Intercontinental Hotel.  With their purse or handbag purchases, auction attendees helped the FOX 4 Love Fund for Children, which serves children throughout 37 counties, birth through age 18, by providing goods and services for their comfort, care and needs. Items such as school supplies, medical equipment, clothing, shoes, glasses and personal hygiene products are provided through the charitable giving of individuals and businesses in the Kansas City area.

"Not all children have the same privileges and we need to make sure that each child in Kansas City has the same opportunity as those that have parents that can support them fully," said Joy Johnson.

Silpada Designs, Garmin and Black & Veatch are event sponsors.
