KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The KC Rep on the UMKC campus unveiled a newly renovated theater Friday.

The theater spent $5.5 million adding more space in the lobby and renovating the inside of the theater. The restrooms are much nicer, the seat cushions are firmer, and the stage is brand-new. Most importantly, they raised the ceiling so the acoustics in the theater are much better.

"Our audiences complain the most about acoustics and not being able to hear and we spent close to $1 million ripping out the entire ceiling, paneling every surface with some of the smartest acoustic people in the country,"  KC Rep Artistic Director Eric Rosen said. "The first show in the newly renovated theater is 'A Christmas Carol', which opens tonight and runs through Christmas eve."
