LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- An annual Christmas event ended like a fairy tale for a Lee's Summit woman on Friday night. FOX 4 was there as her boyfriend got creative and added a special twist when he popped a big question.

Since starting work at Wedding Expressions, the lighting of the Mayor's Tree in Lee's Summit has always been Abby Nuccio's favorite event.

"I love my city. I love Lee's Summit. It' really cool to see everyone come together. It's a really big hit," Nuccio said.

And this year, she got to stand next to her boyfriend Kevin Carey.

"She is so beautiful. You know it doesn't matter what she's wearing. Make up, no make up. She is always beautiful," Carey beamed.

Draped in a beautiful red wedding gown, Abby felt like she was in a fairy tale.

"I get to be a princess. I don't know when I'll be able to do that so," she said.

Little did she know, her moment was coming. The couple met three years ago on a plane traveling from Denver.

"It's kind of a fairy tale," Carey said.

Their fairy tale story just added another chapter, with all their family and friends watching, Carey proposed. Now the girl who helps other women find their perfect dress, gets her chance to be a princess, too.
