KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man was killed after he lost control and overturned his pickup truck near Ameristar Casino Saturday morning just before 9:00.

The driver and two passengers were headed west down 210 Highway near Eldon Road. The driver went over the curb, through the median, and hit a guardrail. His truck eventually landed on the other side of the highway.

"It could just happen so quickly and unexpectedly that you just never know and that's why if everybody does their part, and takes their job of driving a car seriously, the chances of getting involved in a crash are minimized," said Bill Johnson, Master Patrol Officer.

Officers responded to more than two dozen crashes around Kansas City.

FOX 4's Megan Dillard talked to drivers and police about staying safe while driving in these conditions.
