KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Operation Breakthrough received a visit from Royals Charities on Monday and received a check for $25,000 as part of the first-ever Giving Week. Members of the Kansas City Royals Alumni Association also made a donation.
Royals alumni Willie Aikens, Al Fitzmorris, Dennis Leonard, Paul McGannon and Rod Meyers were in attendance, along with Royals broadcaster Rex Hudler. Royals mascot Slugerrr appeared and gave out rally towels to the children.
Operation Breakthrough is the largest single-site early education child care services facility in Missouri. The organization aims to support area families though advocacy, referral services and emergency aid.
Royals Charities will spend the week traveling throughout the Kansas City metro area making donations to numerous organizations.
