KANSAS CITY, Mo -- Congressman Emanuel Cleaver held his annual holiday celebration at Union Station, but the event was much different then years passed.

The holiday spirit was in the air Sunday night, an atmosphere like every other year but the difference wasn't in the music or decor but in the people.

Hundreds from all different walks of life came together. Congressman Cleaver invited the American Muslim community. He said Muslims have been the target of offensive statements and rise of attacks so Sunday people of all faiths joined hands in prayer to spread a picture of hope and unity.

"I don't think that hate is stronger then love. We are going to demonstrate not only for the greater Kansas City area but the nation that this time even though people are spreading hate, that love wins out," Emanuel Cleaver said.
