RAYMORE, Mo. -- It's the season of giving and for many, that means food or Christmas gifts. A Raymore salon stepped up to bridge the gap Sunday for those who needed haircuts.
Stylists at Salon Bella & Boutique in Raymore came in on their day off, on a day the doors are normally closed. Owner Patricia Forester said, "We are giving back today. Sometimes they're not as fortunate, we need to think about those less fortunate than us. It could be us tomorrow, we never know, the shoes we walk in."
She and her stylists donated free cuts and styles for anyone who need it. Cassey Reed said it's been about a year since she's gone to a salon, because haircuts cost more than she can spend. Reed said, "I was shocked. It's a very nice place. And didn't expect them to be giving away anything for free. Nobody does that anymore."
Reed said Forester went above and beyond to give her what she really wanted. "It makes you just feel so much better about yourself and self-esteem boost." The stylists didn't take any money, but asked for one thing in return. Forester said, "Not accepting any money at all, any tips at all, we're just saying pass it, pass it forward."
The salon expected between 50 to 60 people Sunday. The stylists hope to hold two events next year during the holiday season.
