KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A federal lawsuit following a deadly police-involved shooting in 2013 was recently filed and named the Kansas City, Mo., police department.

The city, police chief Darrel Forte and four police officers involved in the shooting are named in the lawsuit.

The father of 38 year-old Todd Weber of Independence, Mo., filed the wrongful death lawsuit Thursday.

It claims that the officers involved fired dozens of bullets at Weber and used unnecessary and excessive force in his son’s death.
