OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- What started as a call for help at an Overland Park apartment turned into a homicide investigation.  Officers arrived to find a woman dead at the Brownstone Apartments at 61st and Foster on Monday at about 5:30 p.m..

Officers say they questioned someone on Monday night, and that person was not called a suspect, nor a person of interest at the time. Police say the person and the victim are acquaintances, but didn't elaborate about their relationship past that detail.

Investigators want the neighborhood`s help to figure out what happened.

“The officers here on the scene will conduct a canvass, knock on doors and see if they can talk to neighbors about anything that they saw that was suspicious in nature, but if anybody wasn`t contacted and has information, give us a call,” said Richard Breshears, public information officer with Overland Park police.

Police were trying to get a search warrant at last report on Monday night.

Anyone who has information about what happened is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS, or the Overland Park Police Department at (913) 344-8769.
