OSCEOLA, Mo. — Timothy Smith, 37, of Osceola, Mo., was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to felony-child molestation in the first degree.

Smith was originally charged with statutory sodomy-deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 14-years-old and Class A felony child molestation.

In a plea agreement, the sodomy charge was dropped and the prosecutor amended the second charge from a Class A felony to a Class B.

The charges stemmed from an incident in May 2014 when Smith allegedly touched a juvenile inappropriately.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crime and the case was handled by the Henry County prosecutor.
