LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — A grocery store in Lee’s Summit was damaged Thursday after an early morning fire.

According to a post on the fire department’s Facebook page, crews got called out for a fire at the Price Chopper on Southwest Blue Parkway just before 2 a.m.

Firefighters put out a small fire on a platform above a walk-in cooler in the deli section. There was some smoke damage.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause. The store was closed at the time of the fire.

The Jackson County Health Department has to inspect the store before it can re-open.
