GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Officer Bobby White was recently sent to a Florida neighborhood after someone complained about “kids playing basketball in the street loudly.” The Gainesville officer’s response has become something of an Internet sensation.

The police department posted dashcam of the encounter on its Facebook page, and the video has been viewed close to 10 million times as of Friday night.

“Can you believe someone is calling to complain about kids playing basketball in the street?” Officer White asked, later saying he had no problem with it.

As a crowd of kids gather and Officer White continues to shoot hoops, the kids lower the hoop and the officer throws down a slam dunk to their delight.

Both the department and officer conclude that they’re after real criminals, not kids having fun.
