BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. -- The Cricket Wireless Amphitheater announced on Thursday that it will now be known as the "Providence Medical Center Amphitheater."

The 32-year-old theater, which many just call "Sandstone" will also undergo a multi-million dollar renovation, according to Chris Fritz, president of New West Presentations.

"We're really honored to have them as a sponsor," Fritz said referring to Providence Medical Center. "They're going to be a great partner, and we want to be a great partner to them. To help their branding, and they're definitely going to help our branding."

The multi-million dollar renovation will add new reserved seating, stage upgrades, remodeled merchandise stands, concession stands and restrooms, and a new VIP club with multimedia centers.

“We couldn’t be happier to announce this partnership with another long-time Wyandotte County institution,” said Kathleen Conwell, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Providence. “Providence Medical Center is proud to be part of the revitalization of another community icon.”

Some of the concerts planned for the 2016 season include:

  • Ellie Goulding
  • Dave Matthews Band
  • Warped Tour
