Tempur-Pedic donates 46 new mattresses to American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A local lodge that is dedicated to helping cancer patients got some help on Friday from the community.

The American Cancer Society and Hope Lodge is a place cancer patients can stay for free as they go through treatment and on
Tempur-Pedic is helping make that stay a little more comfortable.

The mattress company donated 46 new mattresses to the lodge.

Volunteers from local businesses helped move them into patients’ rooms and set up bed frames.

In addition to provide a place to stay, Hope Lodge gives cancer patients offers emotional and social support.

The lodge is usually at full capacity especially during the week.

The people who work and stay at the lodge were looking forward to the donation.

"They are so excited. They have been in some of the rooms and have tried out the mattresses and love the Tempur-Pedic's,” Sarah Freyman with Hope Lodge said. “We also had a caregiver here who his wife is currently in the hospital. He actually helped us today, moving all these mattresses. It's been awesome to see the entire Hope Lodge, the volunteers, caregivers get really excited about this day."

Hope lodge is donating all of its used mattresses to "Sleepyhead Beds," which plans to give them to kids who need them over the weekend.
