Officers responded to a call around 5:45 p.m. to a reported body found in the 5400 block of East 29th Street. The victim was identified on Sunday as 38-year-old Durron L. Campbell.

At this time, police are calling it a death investigation, not a homicide, and have not released a cause of death.

FOX 4's Molly Balkenbush spoke to the victim's close friend Craig McGrone, who first found the body, and he said it looked suspicious.

"I really want to know who took his life like this, because it's just senseless," McGrone said.

McGrone said he was renting his house out to Campbell. He went to the residence after a friend told him of a bad smell coming from the house. When he arrived, he said the front door was wide open. Inside, he found his friend dead.

McGrone said he worked construction with Campbell and considered him a good friend.

"I hate it because he was a really good friend," McGrone said. "Whatever you needed, if he knew you, he'd give it to you. No questions asked."
